Dia de los Muertos – is Mexico’s celebration of their ancestors and spirits are invited to return to the mortal world for two days to visit their loved ones. Exactly as Halloween is All Hallows Eve so is this a celebration of the dearly departed.
The Mexican people feast on wonderful food and tasty candies decorated like skulls. They light candles to guide them. Gravestones are decorated, and the whole family will gather in the graveyard to pay there respects. It is a time for family. Unlike Halloween there are no scary clowns or horrid creatures, just festivities and lots of beautifully decorated sugar skulls and skeletons, and lots of good food. Spanish and Mexican costume is ideal for this party theme.
